School Assemblies

In the year 2000 we had three young members of the Ps'arms Puppet team attending the local primary school in Staplehurst, Kent. We approached the head of the school, requesting permission to take a morning assembly, using our puppets. He agreed and on March 30th 2000 we took our first assembly. Our theme was the parable of the prodigal son and the team made up of 3 adults and 2 children. We were a hit with the children and were invited back. We have taken one assembly per term in that school since then.

We always felt that what we had to offer schools was very valuable. A daily act of worship is a legal requirement but can be just another headache for hardworking teaching staff.  However we were unable to offer our services to other schools as we would find it very hard to function without the help of our children. So we left that one in God's hands. He's perfectly capable of sorting out problems to enable us to do what He wants us to do! We needed 2 non-working women to make a team of 4 full-timers and then we could begin to approach other schools. In 2003 God provided just what we needed. Sue and Mary joined Kate and Corinne and the Assembly branch of Ps'arms Puppets was born. In 2007 we added another member - Susie to the team which enabled us to feel a little more relaxed about the problems posed by illness, holidays etc.Since then there have been lifestyle changes for various members of the team and a number of changes have happened. Corinne has returned to her original profession of teaching and Kate to nursing. Kate Henry, a retired head teacher has recently joined the team and so the work goes on.
