Ghana 2007

Day 8

Friday 16th March 2007

We went to the Jesus film last night, and all the while we were there, there were huge flashes of lightening all around -  quite dramatic. Not nearly as dramatic as during the night when the storm started. I awoke to gale force winds blowing in our room and rain like I’ve never seen or heard. All the electricity was out, so the room was just periodically lit by huge flashes of lightning with claps of thunder to follow. That was dramatic.

Friday our last day, winding down. We went to 2 schools and decided to repeat the puppets at the medical clinic too, which was a really nice way to finish. Then in the evening I preached at the Jesus film for one last time, I feel a bit sad at finishing but it has been a really good week and I feel as if we have achieved what we came to do. There is a huge need out here, in every way, spiritually and physically. But it will be great to get back to refrigeration and air conditioning. One thought that did occur to me during the storm was, its’ one thing to sleep on a floor of dust, but  when it turns to mud what then?

We managed to visit 13 schools, did 16 assemblies and saw approx 3000 children, most of which had not seen a white person before let alone a puppet!

We are just off to a final team meeting then bed as we have to leave for our return journey to Accra at 6 am tomorrow.

Love to you all – Sue
