Ghana

Day 4
Monday
12th March 2007
After another hot & sticky night we got up ready to leave at 8:00 to start
the school assemblies .........
At 09:00 we were still waiting to leave. Finally at 09:40 we departed the centre
for our first school!
The first thing we noticed
when we arrived at the school was that it was much more basic than the schools
in Accra. For a start they don’t have concrete floors - just dirt. So we
get very dirty very fast when kneeling on the mat. Secondly they don’t have
electricity in the class rooms, so we have to run the PA system on the internal
battery. We have found that when we are working in temperatures of above 100°F
the battery doesn’t last very long. However, the children are still the same,
get really excited when we turn up and are very, very noisy! But still totally
adorable.

We managed to do 4 assemblies
in three different schools, but the battery ran out during the last song. The
team had to sing “Wide and Long and High and Deep” to finish ........
the show must go on!!!.
We saw a total of about 800
children today and handed out 6 of Daniel Leckie’s crosses as prizes and 5 of
the letters from Buzz. Thanks to Daniel and those in Buzz who wrote letters -
they are being greatly received here.
We do not have any kind of
Internet access up here at all, so these first four updates come courtesy of
Phil emailing them to Corinne when he came back to Accra on Tuesday and Corinne
doing all the work back in the UK to post them on the web site, Thanks Corinne.
(Pleasure J
Ed.) The next update will appear on Saturday when we arrive back in Accra and I
have Internet access again and am able to upload the next few day’s logs.
Please keep praying for us. We
are all really struggling with the heat, it regularly goes over 100°F during
the day and drops to low 80’s at night. Having no Air conditioner leaves us
quite drained physically but we are all in good spirits and enjoying spreading
the Gospel to the people and children in the Volta Region.
Love to you all – Adrian
& Sue
