Ghana 2007

Day 1

Friday 9th March 2007

We arrived in Accra at 21.25 nearly an hour late due to delays in taking off at Heathrow, we had a good flight, no nasty turbulence and the good news is that all our cases, supplies, medical equipment and of course the puppets arrived here too.

The temperature when we arrived was 29°c which we thought was OK and bearable until somebody reminded us that it was nearly 10 o’clock at night, so we just enjoyed the evening breeze.

It’s Ghana’s 50th Anniversary of independence this year and they have really pushed the boat out to make a good impression to visitors. For a start, ALL the air conditioners were working which we have never seen before so it was really comfortable in the immigration hall, secondly the whole airport has been decorated in Ghanaian colours and looked really nice.

It’s 23:30 now...... we have just had a brief team meeting and are now going to bed. Will update more tomorrow.
